Transits in Astrology
What each planet does when it moves, how long it takes, and how to read it against a natal chart.
A transit is simply a planet's current position making an aspect to a placement in your birth chart. The natal chart is fixed; the sky is not. Everything astrology says about timing comes from that difference.
How much a transit matters depends mostly on speed. The Moon changes sign every two and a half days and describes the mood of an afternoon. Pluto can spend two or three years crossing a single degree, and what it touches does not go back to how it was. Reading transits well is largely a matter of matching the weight of your interpretation to the speed of the planet — which is why each of these pages leads with how the planet moves.
